Blinman hr2-Interview

Zur Aufführung kommt eine 16kanalige Lautsprecherkomposition für 8-Kanal-Lautsprecher im Klangdom (ZKM).

Die Verräumlichung bzw. Positionierung der 16kanaligen Lautsprecherkomposition erfolgt mit Hilfe z.B. von Max/MSP oder Zirkonium, einer Softwareentwicklung am ZKM;

edge of sound and transition.

Blinman hr2-Interview

The spatial positioning of the 16-channel loudspeaker composition is carried out with the help of e.g. Max/MSP or Zirkonium, a software developed at ZKM;

plus live performance of an instrumentalist: parts of the loudspeaker composition are transferred alternatively or in addition to the Sound Dome directly onto the instrument (here: Cello wooden corpus) via transducer.

The sounds transferred onto the instrument (here Cello) are transmitted back up to the Sound Dome via live-sound directing.

Parallel to this the instrumentalist plays live (using piezo, bow, fingertips, bowing on the top of the bridge and sidewise, playing on bridge, tailpiece, spike and wolfscrew as Cello player).

These spatialisation of the sound sources picked up by microphones from the cello takes place live with the help of e.g. from ‚Lemur' – interactive surface – touch screen, mutli touch Hardware: LEMUR V2.0. Finger movements on the ‚Lemur' touchscreen monitor become three-dimensional, acoustic space movements in the Sound Dome/8 channel setting.

Images for the sound movements are mountain ranges and elevations in and around Blinman itself. These linear formations of nature are transferred and traced by fingertip onto the sensor-sensitive operating surface of the 'Lemur' interface.

Digital Scores
The cello score does not consist of conventional notes. Three videos are scores, together with a schedule and verbal explanations of play technics.

*3-Channel-Video /Materials*
1.
Amplitude-Details of recorded cello sounds represented in sound processing software
2.
Details from close ups of the mountain in Blinman, South Australia (Outback), from which also all audio field recording originates.
3.
Camera tracking - zoom shots: overviews/details of the geological surface taken
from different perspective around/over the village of Blinman (Australia) and surroundings.

4. The 3-channel video scores are played back on one TV monitor positioned such as to be viewed only by the cellist.

5. The audience is invited to go online via their own smartphone devices on YouTube and Vimeo to view during the live performance isolated short video excerpts from the original video score. Important here: asynchronity is program.
